I’m Halloween-inspired. Next year I am planning a weekend where ghastly pinup horrors can play. Psychobilly & Geekabilly pinups will love doing a Halloween shoot. I can even imagine a murderous Stepford wife.
If there’s one time of year when it’s perfectly acceptable to dress up in outrageous costumes, let your freak flag fly high, and basically have a blast being as strange and creepy as you want, it’s Halloween. For some people, the 31st of October is all about donning scary makeup, pretending to be a monster, and creeping everyone out.
But for others, Halloween is an opportunity to tap into their creative side and go all-out with their outfits. Whether you’re into cute or sexy pinup looks, ethereal witch styles, or grim and gory Halloween getups, there’s no need to stick to the status quo – this is your chance to let your imagination run wild! So break out those fake blood capsules, creative cobwebs, and novelty contact lenses – it’s time to have some fun with Halloween!

Halloween is a fun time of year and has become hugely popular in Australia. Time to have some fun before the stressful Christmas period. You have a whole year to plan for next year.
When finding the right outfit, you need to decide if you are going scary, sexy, or cute.
Wardrobe Colour
BLACK! Colour doesn’t matter. It depends on the theme you want to go with. Maybe purple or black like our witch outfit, break it up with lighter elements like ruby slippers! Keep it very Halloween with black and orange, giving you a striking look. Add a few cobwebs, and you’re ready to go. At the end of the day, I mean night, it is up to you.
Can you catch a shot with fishnets?
Doing some research and fishnets adds an extra edge to a photo. From a photography point of view, I recommend going with the large weave pattern to show more skin. Attach a few spiders, and you’ll have the legs to scare ol’dracula out of his coffin.
Scary Hairy Pinup
Wigs are the straightforward go-to here. They come in different colours and styles; if you are clever, you can style them yourself. Just consider the location we may be shooting in. Unless we set up a rim or halo light, you may become the invisible pinup. Check out some of the crazy wigs on the market.
Cheap as Slugs Costume Ideas
On a budget, hit the op shop or hit the costume shop. This may work with a bit of pinup makeup, hair, and styling. Add some finger cupcakes, and fake blood goody-two-shoes become horror Ms Molly. Don’t forget that pinup is more about attitude than anything else.
Kick’em with the heels
Another excuse to buy heels. I’ve noticed many Geekabilly and Psychobilly pinups will opt for bloody sneakers or a bear of Docs. Select a style that will suit the style/story you are trying to carry out.
Horror Accessories
Go crazy. Spikes, fake feet, fangs, worms, and cobwebs are the go. There are great bags, earrings, necklaces, belts and more to make a simple outfit extra spooky. Remember your fingers. Decorate your nails or find that skull ring you have been saving.
“Boo-doir” photoshoot
You may see online a lot of “pinup” boudoir photos. This basically embraces black lingerie including corsets, thigh-high stockings, suspenders and sheer gowns. These shots are usually a little more sensual and less likely to use the classic cheesecake poses.
